Guitar Building Products
After the book was released readers expressed frustration at not being able to scale the plans up to full size with any accuracy. That prompted me to put together a complete set of plans using a CAD program and make them available. Creating these drawings laid the groundwork for creating templates, molds and some tools - I was the first person to benefit from these.I can personally attest to the quality and usefulness of these products as I use them myself every day in the shop. They have improved the accuracy of my work and ultimately the quality of my guitars.

A Note about Shipping
The shipping portion for the store has been restructured. UPS has been added for domestic shipping. This is a less expensive domestic method for heavier items. The USPS Parcel Post and Priority shipping are less expensive methods for smaller and lighter packages. USPS International Priority is the only shipping method for overseas orders. There have been no problems with this method. New territories and countries are being added.
New Products Added
Check out the guitar making DVD series in the store, and be sure to check out the discounted sets for savings. I have bundled the templates and molds with the DVD at a savings of 10%. There are also quite a few other set combinations of templates, molds, and plans with acetates for the guitar in the book.
The solera kit has also been added to the store. The kit consists of a 1" MDF solera shaped base capped with 3mm thick hardwood veneer glued to the top and bottom faces, along with enough basswood pieces to cover the lower and upper bouts, and a set of assembled rims with hardware. Use this kit to construct the solera exactly as shown in the DVD. The solera kit may also be used to build the design from the book. The solera for the book design requires no basswood patch for the upper bout.
There are also many other helpful guitar building products in the store. For example, an adjustable tuning machine drilling jig, shown here in use, is one that I have been using in shop for years. It will locate and guide the drilling for tuning machine roller holes that are 35mm on centers in the headpiece. The jig is designed to be used in conjunction with the headpiece template which is included in the template set. The holes are drilled using the jig without removing the template which greatly improves the workflow. The jig is adjustable for different width tuner base plates and comes with two shims for drilling 16 and 18mm wide base plates. Shims can be easily made to accommodate any size base plate.
Lamination wood can also be found in the store. The small quantities and odd sizes of wood required to make one instrument, are difficult if not impossible to find commercially. For those that do not have the ability to resaw, laminations for the linings and sides have been made available. Four sheets of mahogany pre-thicknessed to the size needed for a set of linings, and side laminations in three different types of wood are now available in the store. Ebonized pearwood veneer sheets are also available. Finding good black veneer for purflings, back strips, and headpiece veneers is difficult and if you are using dyed poplar you know how it tears leaving little voids where dust can settle and eventually show up through the finish. Ebonized pearwood planes very nicely and leaves a silky smooth, flat appearance.
The rosette cutting router attachment, and a fret leveling kit are both extremely useful and easy to use. Frustrated cutting out channels for the rosette without being able to see what was going on until it was too late, I came up with the acrylic rosette cutting router attachment. The device is easily adjustable. The attachment can be adapted for any laminate trimming router, and I think you will find it a big help.
I have tried every device available for fret leveling and was never happy with the results. They either took too long and removed either too much material, or were slow and removed too little. I then began using sand paper with this easy to use sanding block and have never used any else since. The metal dowels round out the kit making it easy to check for high frets and ultimately making leveling a breeze.
Also,be sure to check out the discounted sets. I have packaged items together to make them more economical. All sets have been priced with a 10% discount from the original price on all set items.
A word on the molds. These products are heavy and may make shipping internationally impractical. The side mold weighs 12 lbs. by itself without any packaging. Therefore it will be prohibitively expensive to ship internationally. If you are an international customer and would still like to purchase these items please contact me.
